The Verse:
God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son
In the mountains of Moriah this was surely to be done
Rising early in the morning with a donkey to prepare
Two men loaded wood that he would set afire way up there
They traveled to the mountains and it took 'em three long days
Then the men were left behind as Abe and Isaac went to praise
Young Isaac lifted wood while his old dad had knife and fire
And they hiked up to a place that was elevated higher
Isaac saw the wood and fire and asked his father dear
Where the sacrifice would be, if it was far or was it near
Abraham told Isaac that Lord would soon provide
And began to build an altar where the off'ring would be tied
Then he bound his son up tight and he put him up on top
And he raised a sharpened knife then an angel called out “Stop!”
He knew that he feared God 'cause he would not withold his son
Even though it was the boy that was the prophet's only one.
Then the prophet looked around and in a thicket saw a ram
And he knew it was a sacrifice provided for God's plan.
He did place it on the altar there to meet the Lord's command
While the angel then did bless him to have seed as much as sand
All earth's nations would be blessed because good Abraham obeyed
He had listened to the Lord and from His word he had not strayed
His Heavenly Father's words would be a type of things to be
“Thou has not withheld thy son, thine only son away from me.”
