The Rhyme:
Nubuchadnezzar was a king so great
That he built a mighty image many times his weight
It was so tall, standing up ninety feet
Eighteen feet wide made the image complete

Then he called his staff to a big event
To the image dedication noble people were sent
The music played loud to folks all around
And the people had to bow way down to the ground

If they didn't bow down, the king got real mad
And threw them in the fire to get burned real bad
Then a certain group of people really lit his fuse
Cause they wouldn't bow down 'cause they were very strict Jews

Three men there said emphatically no
'Twas Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
The Chaldeans told on the three to the king
That the three broke the law – it was a very bad thing

The king called 'em in and he asked 'em why
That they wouldn't bow down to the image real high
“Our God will save” was what they said to the crown
“If not, doesn't matter, 'cause we won't bow down.”

Enraged was the king, he was really full of ire
So he ordered all his servants to put fuel on the fire
It was very, very warm, it was seven times as hot
Cause the three young Jews wouldn't do what they were taught

The king called servants and they bound up the three
In their clothes real tight so they really couldn't flee
Then they threw 'em in the flames of the furnace burnin' there
Then the servants did die from the fire's hot air

Well the king looked in then from way far back
For Abednego, Shadrach, and Meshack
What he saw was a great surprise
They were walkin' in the fire right before his eyes

The king counted them through the furnace door
He numbered them one, two, three, and four.
The fourth one he learned to his shame
Was an angel there in the furnace flame

Nebuchadnezzar then called them out
From the fiery hot furnace where they walked about
He looked them over, near the fire's fringe
Not a hair of their head was the least bit singed.

He let them go, they could roam real free
And the king then commanded a new decree
If one against the three did speak some ill
The soldiers of the king would be sent to kill
