The Verse:

Be strong, and of good courage,
Be not afraid, nor be dismayed
The Lord thy God is with thee
Where e'er thou goest, He will aid

The Israelites did promise
All thou commandest we will do
And where the Lord would send them
Was just the place they'd go into

In Jericho lived Rahab
A woman with a harlot's guise
Within her house she sheltered
And hid well two of Israel's spies

The king to apprehend them
Sent soldiers out to get some proof
Of men that came to see her
But she did hide them on her roof

“Away they've gone,”said Rahab
Guards went away the spies to find
Then she did go and get them
And made them promise to be kind

To her and to her household
The spies were bound to spare her kin
When Israel did invade them
And Jericho was theirs to win

And so they left her dwelling
With cords she let them down to go
A window was their exit
So all the people would not know

For three days in the mountains
They hid away and made their bed
And Rahab for protection
Hung from her window scarlet thread

The spies returned to Joshua
And let him know that all would faint
Before him and his armies
It was the picture they did paint

Then Israel came to Jordan
To sanctify themselves three days
The ark would go before them
And direct them in God's ways

They came up to the river
One from each tribe did come up front
Then priests went in the water
To put in place a river shunt

The Israelites crossed over
The water stood upon an heap
The ark they followed closely
A promise symbol they would keep

Twelve men from tribes did get stones
To carry with them from that place
To act as a memorial
They were the tokens of God's grace

Then tribes prepared for battle
One half Manasseh, Reuben, Gad
They numbered forty thousand
All well prepared and armor clad

The river then again ran
While Passover was at Gilgal
Young boys were circumsized there
And manna ceased at their locale

Then Joshua met a man there
With sword unsheathed he held his post
When asked which side he favored
He said “I'm Captain of God's host”

Then Joshua fell and worshipped
The place he stood was holy ground
God's angel was before him
The awe he felt was so profound

Old Jericho was shut up
As Joshua and his men came near
But God was right there with him
And gave instructions very clear

For six days they should march there
Around the city once each day
With seven priests a-blowing
The horns of rams along the way

Before the ark the priests walked
For six days they performed the task
And then the seventh day came
For them to do just what God asked

The word they got from heaven
“Walk round about the city wall
Don't speak until you've finished
Then shout and watch the city fall”

They followed the commandment
And Jericho did not avoid
The impending destruction
The town was utterly destroyed

Two spies were sent to Rahab
To bring the harlot and her kin
Away from all the carnage
That Jericho contained within

The city burned with fire
And was consumed by brightened flame
Their silver, brass, and iron
In Israel's treasury was contained

So-

Be strong, and of good courage,
Be not afraid, nor be dismayed
The Lord thy God is with thee
Where e'er thou goest, He will aid
